Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
St. Maarten – The luxury boutique hotel Princess Heights, managed by Emil Lee, is among the 29 nominees for the inaugural Chief Awards of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association CHTA. The finalists will be announced at the end of this month and the winners will be revealed at the Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum (Chief) in October at the Waldorf Astoria Resort in Puerto Rico.
The tourists associations of Curacao, Puerto Rico and Jamaica are among the nominees. The St. Maarten Tourist Bureau is not nominated.
The field of nominees furthermore consists of resorts and organizations from St. Lucia (6), the Bahamas (4), Barbados (3) the United States (2), Grenada (2), Anguilla (2), Turks & Caicos (2), Puerto Rico (2), Dominica (1) and Aruba (1),
Nominees entered in the Business Operations category, must demonstrate best practices in one of the following topics: Use of Technology to Improve Operations; Use of Benchmarks to Achieve Operational Goals; Effective Human Resource Practices; Improving Customer Service & Guest Satisfaction; and Multi-tasking.
The Sales & Marketing nominees must show best practices under the following headings: Effective Use of Guest Travel Rating Services (i.e. TripAdvisor); Public Relations Approaches to Generate Business; Using Data and Metrics to Drive Business; Niche Marketing; and Driving Sales Through Social Media.
Companies and individuals nominated for Sustainable Practices must exhibit best practices in one of the following categories: Reducing Electric and/or Water Costs; Reducing Lighting Costs; Effecting Use of Landscaping and/or Gardening; Making the Most Out of Your Environment Certification; and Maximizing the ROI from Refurbishments.
